Another Good Week!

This week was a great week! We talked to everyone of our progressing investigators and one of them made a really great bold move!

So larry and carolyn havnt been able to come to church the past few weeks because they have been working all day everyday in a potato field so they havnt had time to read the scriptures either. We talked to them about living up to their potential and taking advantage of all the privileges that God has given them and then Larry went off! He was like "ok I know what to do now! Im going to go to work and tell my boss that im putting church and God before work! We are going to be at church on sunday!" It was so awesome! We are super excited to see them come to church!

We found 3 new people this week and they are all really elect! I'll let you know how everything goes next week! Sorry this is a very short weekly! I'll do better next week!

Love you all so much! Keep on keepin on!

Rain Drop

Man it's been a great week! It's been raining like crazy and I love it! I've heard hurricane season this year is going to be wild and it's going to be the first time in 56 years that there have been to bad hurricane years in a row! I'm so excited!

We had a pretty good week with teaching our progressing investigators. Larry's wife Carolyn sat in on our lesson with Larry about the Plan of Salvation and they really loved it. We are super excited about them! Sadly they didn't get up for church but afterwards we called and texted them and they said they were sick so hopefully that is the case. The member that went to pick them up said he knocked on their door 3 times and their roommate answered and then their roommate knocked on their bedroom door and then had the member knock on their bedroom door and there was no answer so we tried everything we could do hopefully they were just knocked out on sleep medicine or something.

Alvin was able to come to church and so was John! They really enjoyed it and are both coming back next week! We are planning on inviting Alvin to get baptised because he has worked with missionaries a ton before so he knows basically everything. We also met this girl named Shamika walking down the street and we talked her for a little bit and got to know her. It got to the point where she just completely opened up to us about all of her past struggles and how she came to know God was real and we shared Ether 12:6 with her and she started crying and said that she knew God sent us to meet her. She had to get to work so we weren't able to teach her about the Plan of Salvation but we told her that past this life we continue to live with our families and God forever and she really wanted to know about it. We are going to meet with her sometime this week when she gets back in town so we are excited to see where that goes.

Thank you all so much for all of the prayers! I love you all so much! Keep on keepin on! Email me!

Yooooo! Transfer calls were last Friday and obviously I'm staying in Palatka with elder Andrus! We were so happy! I hope I stay here for a while! There were also some missionaries who I was close with in Arlington that got transferred down to the Jax south zone where I am so I'm excited to see them more often! Also our car that we have is almost at 50000 miles and that when they retire the cars and get a new one so we are going to get a sweet new car in the next week! Nothing better than a new car smell!

So this last week elder Andrus and I worked super hard on getting people to church because we havent been able to this whole transfer! A lot of them say they are coming and then we call them Sunday morning and ask if they are still coming and they always seem to have something get in the way. So this week we were more bold in our invitations and we used and invitation that Lynn G. Robbins told us we could use. We say, "We invite a lot of people to church and a lot say they will go but never do because they are too polite to tell us that they really can't ever go. Do you have anything that may cause you to miss coming to church this Sunday because it would help us out a lot if we knew now than later?" We used that for one of our investigators and they quickly said that they weren't like that and they really wanted to come to church! Sadly they still didn't show up. We also invited 5 more people who were supposed to come and all 5 cancelled Sunday morning. It was really frustrating at first plus the talks given in sacrament meeting were insanely good! Our goal this week is too use Lynn G. Robbins church invite to invite those we are still going to meet that didn't show up to church. Please pray for our investigators to make it to church this week!

Right now we have kinda cleaned up our teaching poole because we were teaching a few people for a while but they never were really progressing or keeping commitments so we dropped quite a few people but we have found some really promising people lately so we still have a lot of people to teach! Our three main investigators are Larry, Alvin, and John who I talked about last week. They are all very promising. Alvin has been working with the missionaries for a while and hasnt been baptized so hopefully we can get somewhere with him. But Larry is the one that we feel is most ready. John is ready but has a huge word of wisdom problem so it may take a little while. Larry actually had a good excuse for not coming to church because his roof broke from a big rain storm we had so he had to fix it before the next storm came which was on Sunday. So we should be seeing him and his wife next Sunday and also we should be teaching his wife this week as well.

I'm super happy that I'm staying in Palatka! It's going to be another great transfer! Thanks for all the prayers and love! I love you all so much! Keep on keepin on!

Hey people! Wassup! It's been a great week! We found 3 insanely promising people!

First was John. He was a Book of Mormon and Bible referral so we delivered those to him and talked with him and he said he knew our ward mission leader! So we came back with our ward mission leader and had a great lesson! Our ward mission leader can talk forever so it was an interesting lesson and we covered way too much stuff for a first lesson. Basically we taught the whole plan of salvation and half of the restoration and half of the gospel of jesus christ with some commandments in there! It was so much! But John seemed to really love everything so it worked out. He wasn't able to come to church though so hopefully we can get him to come next week.

Second was Alvin. He was a referral from a member that went out with us one night. His name is brother Peterson and he is super smart with doctrine and everything so it's fun listening to him teach because he is just super straight forward about everything and just about any doubts or questions people have he resolves them! Anyway we go to Alvin's house and him and brother Peterson talked for a long time then we started teaching and brother Peterson talked basically the whole time and got him committed to reading the Book of Mormon and go to church and basically be baptized! We didn't set a date but he wants to he just needs to talk with his girlfriend who seems like she might get in the way for him so we'll have to help him with that.

Third was Larry who we ran into biking one day. He's a black Australian and has a sweet accent! We actually had our first lesson with him last night and just taught the restoration and he loved it but said that he can only know what we are saying is true if God let's him know and we said that's exactly what needs to happen because God knows all things so we invited him to read and pray to know that the Book of Mormon is the word of God and that Joseph Smith was a prophet of God and he agreed. He made us so happy because he already knows what he has to do to progress right now and he is super sincere about it so we are super excited! He also said that he is going to do all he can do to get him and his wife to church next Sunday!

Palatka gets better and better each day! We are finally starting to get a good teaching poole going! So far most people down here love God and love everything we say to them they just aren't committed to do anything so we are really working hard on getting members to help us out with that so hopefully we can finally start getting people to church and to really start progressing.

I love you all a ton and appreciate all the prayers so much! Y'all are always in my prayers! Keep on keepin on!

Here are some district pictures we took!

Yello! I hope everyone enjoyed the amazing and historic General Conference this last weekend! I know I did! Wow what a start for President Nelson as the prophet! There were so many great talks and new things for the church. Elder Gong and Elder Soares gave great first talks as apostles too. My favorite tall was probably Dallin H. Oaks's talk in priesthood session on magnifying our priesthood duties and also callings. Doing that truly can make the difference in many of the lives we serve including our own. The big things that happened were the combining of the high priest quorum and the elders quorum into the elder quorum and also changing home teaching and visiting teaching into ministering. These changes are a great step forward in increasing unity and love between the members of the church. I especially love the new ministering change because instead of home and visiting teaching being a task that we just check off monthly it's now a continual effort to reach out to our fellow brothers and sisters with charity and love and help them in whatever way we can. It was also really cool to see President Lynn G. Robbing speak because he had just came to our mission a few weeks ago.

Besides conference this week was super good! We had a few exchanges because Elder Andrus is the district leader so he goes on a lot of those with the other Elders in our district. Just in case you don't know what an exchange is it's when I go with another missionary for a day and my companion goes with that other missionary's companion. There are a ton of elders in our district too plus we go on an exchange with the zone leader. It's fun though to get to know everyone in the district better.

Our most progressing investigators are Linda and Douglass. They are super awesome but both have their weaknesses. Linda loves everything we say and loves the Book of Mormon and says she will go to church but never does and she always forgets about appointments so we always need to remind her the day of. So please pray for her that she will be better at keeping commitments and setting her priorities. Douglas is great and is the same way as Linda. He's a little more promising because he says he actually wants to be baptized and he was super excited about there being a prophet of God on the Earth today. He did not show up to the church for General Conference though. We tried to text him the days of General Conference but his phone doesn't work half the time so it was hard to get in contact with him. So please pray for him that he will keep commitments and set his priorities straight.

Thank you all so much for all that you do and I love you all so much!
